Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters (EMJM) programmes are fully funded, multi-country Master’s degrees, but there is one structural detail that trips up almost every first-time applicant: there is no single, unified EMJM deadline, and no one is coming to tell you when your specific programme opens.
How the timing actually works:
- Each individual EMJM consortium, the specific joint degree run by its own group of universities, sets its own deadline, typically somewhere between October and January for the following academic year’s intake
- For entry in September 2027, most consortia are expected to open applications around October or November 2026, only a few months from now, though this follows the pattern of previous cycles rather than a guarantee
- Scholarship quotas vary enormously by programme: some fund only two or three international scholars per intake, others fund fifteen to twenty, which affects how competitive your specific choice actually is
The EU scholarship itself, where offered, covers full tuition plus a stipend of €1,400 a month for up to 24 months, along with travel and installation costs, and every programme must involve at least three universities across at least three countries, at least two of them in the EU or an associated country. Do not search for “the EMJM deadline.” Instead, pick your specific joint Master’s programme from the official EMJM catalogue, check that consortium’s own site for its deadline and scholarship quota, and set your own reminder rather than waiting for a general announcement.
